The Business School of Wisconsin-Madison University will organise in collaboartion with the Catholic University of Mons (FUCaM), INSA of Lyon and IUP of Clermont Ferrand  the second edition of the International Conference on Information Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain (ILS).

The objective of ILS 2008 is to unite international professionals from academia and industry and present emerging topics, challenges and solutions to supply chain issues from different perspectives. During this three-day conference, academics, researchers and business leaders will cover a broad range of topics related to supply chain management problems and solution methods, business intelligence tools and logistics operations management, and information system design and implementation.

The conference program will include: (1) Discussions on the applied experiences, problems and solution approaches from business leaders, (2) Presentations of the latest research advances and information system solutions, (3) Opportunities to speak informally with other international business leaders, (4) Workshops on specific topics of interest.

Join the event in sharing the most recent supply chain research and best practices between academia and industry in an international setting. Authors are invited to submit full papers (10 pages maximum) written in English to Gina Srenaski via e-mail at gsrenaski@bus.wisc.edu. The contributions will be selected based on a double review and will be included in the proceedings of the conference with ISBN. An extended version of the best communications will be submitted for potential publication in a special edition of academic journals.

The present economic settings are characterized by a fierce competition between firms and an accelerated globalization of markets. Companies are evolving in a more networked economy. They are subjected to a series of restructuring, mergers or acquisitions and to vertiginous advances in the development of information and communication technologies.

Their supply chain managers are often confronted with the transformation of their production structures and the rethinking their business architecture in order to streamline their practices and focus on their core-business activities.  Their major concerns are the control of production and logistic costs and the satisfaction of customers’ expectations in terms of quality, on-time delivery and personalized order fulfillment. These elements are the key factors that managers should integrate in their objectives to ensure enterprise’s survival and success.

These objectives can not be reached without transcending the internal boundaries and involving internal complete integration of ERP systems, optimized planning, controlled processes and cross-company collaborations. The idea is to collaborate with selected suppliers in order to outsource nonessential activities and to optimize core-business processes.

These issues of supply chain management concern both academics and industrialists who have the opportunity to meet at Wisconsin-Madison newt May 2008. Wisconsin University will organize the Second international conference on Information systems, Logistics and Supply Chain (ILS’08 www.ilsconference.org ). The conference will address a broad range of topics related to supply network, logistics operations management, supply chain management and optimization and information systems. These specific issues of global supply chain and logistics management was considered with the emphasis of information system development. Participants will have the possibility to discuss emerging industrial issues, to share common practices and recent research development and to identify research opportunities in the area of Supply Chain Management.
